Hi Jan,

You are right that S3 will have a shot along with ESST and CRUS AND CREAF (a PCI solution out in March). This push to PCI and no more ISA will be complete by the end of this year. I doubt their ability to sell through to customers, because CREAF is such a big brand name. Your comments for Microsoft D3D sound (sorry, i can't get the name right), changing the industry are correct. MSFT is trying to take the industry standard away from CREAF. a normal predatory behavior.

I think many people are thinking forward to the 100mhz bus. I know i am waiting for this machine...

I think I may switch to NT4.0/5.0(when it comes out), instead of win98, unless win98 is so much like NT4.0 in terms of multitasking...

As for games, I don't play 3D games on my computer. I leave that for my N64. So I am happy with fast 2D right now. I do need 2 screens on my computer, though, since i want to do 2 things at once (read this stuff and do work).

To get 2 screens up and running, for less than $300, GX2, that number 9 334 product, is the only way to go. I am waiting for a technical review of the product before going forward (and also my 100mhz bus computer). So some time in June, I'll be upgrading my system...

I'm glad that S3 is finally above $5, if only briefly. Thanks for your corrections.

Do you hear anything about GX3?

S3's future is not patents, or audio, or fab assets, or vaporware microprocessors. Its graphics chips - period. I think we need to gather our SI resources and look for info regarding GX3 - good or bad.
