I hadn't heard that, so please enlighten...

It should prevent you from getting newer strains but would not prevent any long term problems set in motion by the original vaccines. We don't know what that may be but there is some evidence reproduction may be affected, especially for women. Only time will tell because complete testing was not done on these vaccines, that's what Emergency Use Authorization means, and of course Big Pharma has absolved itself of any liability.
