The headcount on a single satellite is a highly variable number. It depends on the number of birds being built on the program, the complexity/technical innovation required by the specs, the stage the program is in (Non-recurring vs. Recurring), the skills of the individuals assigned to a particular program, and the amount of work being subbed out to other companies. The number of satellites being cancelled is a poor way of estimating how many layoffs to expect without knowing more about these other variables. I have seen headcounts on programs (single to multiple satellite contracts) range anywhere from 50 or 60 to close to 500. It just depends on a lot of factors.
