If you are talking about me, how is you find a discussion about humanity and people being terrorized offensive?

This is the same discussion I wish people had about the Jews being slaughtered in Germany and the fact the American people would not even agree to allow the Jewish orphans in even though they had homes to go to, or our segregation that went on far too long..

We Americans have a terrible track record of inhumanity from propping up dictatorships in Central and South America, Africa and Asia, to segregation and unjust wars, and we need to sort our policies out and that cannot be done without our discussing them..

E.g. we are the last western democracy to still allow capital punishment.
