China can only check that which comes in and out of China. If one is careful - that all looks a-okay.

I was pointing out that China can do a lot more checking of what stays fully internal, not what goes in and out.

But even in your example, China can collect data on what Canada typically pays for diapers, and see if your reported invoices are close or too far off. Like I say, make examples of those you catch, and the appeal heads south in a hurry....

The era of Big Data is indeed upon us.

You can see this in action on ebay. For example: there are many listings for used postage stamps under collectables. Some of these offers are for common stamps which can be bought in sets for less than a penny. The minimum bid will be $10,000 . That sure looks like money laundering to me.
