How is that the case?

crypto is deflationary by design and the number of coins shrinks

Using the exact same algo, you can have BitcoinN where N -> infinity.

The only reason Bitcoin has value is that it tends towards a monopoly. Its no different than any other ponzi scheme chain letter, etc that pays out very well to the ground floor, but eventually falls apart.

Why do you think that Generation Z++ in the future won't decide No More Bitcoin, we are starting BitcoinZ++, we aren't going to pay out the Geezers in society?

Nothing to stop that from happening, other than stupidity on the part of Generation Z++

BitcoinN can go to zero overnight if BitcoinN+1 becomes the fad.

A valid criticism that could be applied to early microchips which weren't all that reliable. Russians used tubes because they knew they'd work on a nuclear battlefield - we used less reliable "shielding" and microchips. Thankfully - we never field tested our respective strategies.

Somewhere in the early 80's we obtained a Mig 19 (I as I recall) and learned they were still using vacuum tubes in their electronics.... The US, on the other hand, had developed rad-hard technology which was simply a lower temperature anneal to produce high levels of positive charge in the isolation oxides and design around it..... Standard device technology struggled to keep that oxide charge level low....
