You did say:

National does have the right to make slot 1 and slot 2 compatible processors and they have the ability to design high performance compatible chips (in a reasonable time frame). If IBM desired to enter this market, they may indeed need these two things from National. It's not that I want IBM to buy National. I thought it would be nice to be able to go out and buy a 1.5 Ghz, .18u, copper-based, slot 2 compatible processor in 1999 that utilized Cyrix's advanced computing algorithms.
