Actually, I have not. What companies need is revenue which comes from satisfying consumer demand. Today a great deal of demand comes from companies implementing Internet related technology. Consumers of this technology deploying thin clients are faced (in large majority) with choosing between HTML or Java user interfaces. Java clearly offers a much more refined option. Companies such as ORCL are interested in gaining revenue by offering products and services which satisfy such demand.

I will grant you that most development in large corporations is limited to intra/extranet. Perhaps you are more oriented towards Intranet applications where I also grant you the majority of Java deployments are for "cutsy" Applets. But I wouldn't want to make any assumptions about you. Certainly you are not on the staff which manages the Hubble telescope using java.
