My view has been that MO is unsuitable for younger folks as I'm not sure about their long term prospects. I do have MO in some of the older folk portfolios I manage as the dividends have been secure so far.

MO does seem committed to the dividend and that's what many older folks are more concerned with.

I haven't delved into the latest MO news yet so I don't have an up to date opinion. I thought I would wait a few days, let the news settle in and then see where we go from there.

Simply put, the decades ahead may look much different for the company as the nicotine market evolves. Change won't happen overnight and the dividend remains a top priority for Altria, but income investors should keep the longer-term uncertainties in mind.

With this in mind, I have kept MO to around a half-sized position and have no plans to add at this point.
