Mark,

Other anal-yst did the same thing upgrading and pumping up the stock while simultaniously revising earnings down. They fuel an unsubstantial euphoric buying frenzy and the investor and or traders who aren't vigilant get smacked hard or are holding the bag when the plug gets pulled. Identical play happened 6 short months ago. Once you get in the rythm of this game you have a much better chance to profit. RR

Chip stocks jump on bullish analysts' comments
''We are very bullish on semiconductors,'' said Acampora, director of technical research at Prudential. Acampora said he recommended ...
Micron Technology Inc (MU - news).,.,.,....
''We hit the world with a one-two punch,'' Acampora said. ''These stocks look very, very good.''

I guess they did hit the world.
I shorted it at the very next day. ( 02/04/98 )

Thursday February 5, 11:54 am Eastern Time
Brown Brothers Harriman said on Thursday analyst William Milton Jr. lowered his short-term rating on
shares of Micron Technology Inc to avoid from hold.

IMO in few days MU will go up.

Also I shorted SEG and WDC yesterday.
Covered today. Small but quick profits.

These, so called analysts, are bunch of crooks, nothing more.
IMO it is called frontloading and should be illegal.
But they are very usefull if you know what their upgrades/downgrades
really mean. I've learned it on IOM thread. Someone posted a translation of the actuall meaning, and it works for me almost every
time.
igl.
Happy trading.
