Electric generation of the reliable type still has significant economies of scale.

That could change -- the problem is -- something has to be distributed and
there is the sunk investment in the wires.

There are different kinds of fuel cells ... I don't know where they have an economic advantage. I remember for a while they were being tried in transportation .... then that fell out of favor and some folks were putting them at subs or industrial locations ..
