A look at the classes I taught over 30 years would not indicate the world is getting smarter - I pulled some stuff kids had written in the 1980s and then again did the same in 2010. It was an eye opener.

What are you talking about?

Flynn said we had gained 60 IQ points in the last 100 years by answering many more questions on an IQ test, and went from having 70 IQ's and being borderline mentally retarded concrete thinkers, who could not classify very well and think in universality, TO abstract thinkers with 130 IQ's which is borderline genius.

He also says the gains were do to public education. He is very clear in his lecture about all of this..

Things like democracy, ethics and civil rights are abstract concepts.

IMO, this is why it took so long to get rid of things like slavery, racism, sexism, etc, concrete thinkers could not figure those out. They could not understand how venal they were..

That is getting smarter.

Tell me what I got wrong in the above.

Our new laws on racism, sexism and gay marriage show how much more quick witted we are today than 100 years ago.

smart: definition

having or showing a quick-witted intelligence.
"if he was that smart he would never have been tricked"

>>Flynn did say we are getting smarter.

NO! It is simply not there. I feel like I'm arguing with a Christian about the divinity of Christ. Of course he is Divine - he is the Son of God!!

Hint: search for the word "smart" (there as a reference to Smart, an author). There is no "smarter", "more intelligent", let alone "getting smarter". You are making this up or not reading the lecture with out prejudice exposing your beliefs - not his conclusions.
