My experience is that there are different kinds - like street smarts and book smarts (there are many more). The history of the 20th century and early 21st undermines your premise.

All sorts of people who became stupid in their politics and health choices -

Part of our stupidity
Civil War: Trenches, Gatling Guns, and head-on charges

WWI: Gases, tanks , subs and battleships plus the prior "advances"

WWII: all the above plus rocketry and atomic bombs

Cold War/Vietnam: Domino Principle, defoliants and heavy bombers, plus the finger on the nukes

Post-WWII: all the above plus bioweapons and stronger poisons

Desert Storm, cakewalks, hanging chad, etc.

How about we just get the smarts to just get along and not be (war) criminals? Look at the trajectory of our politics - back and forth - criminality and slow social advances - great financial blunders and now? Reverse repos and mask-tards.

We are on the brink - show me the news stories of today that tell me how smart we are. I'm positive until we fail, but you're Polly-Anna on this. Be well - we all have our coping strategies. This must be yours.
