I was glad to see that at least the San Antonio Express News mentioned the PowerPC chip & specifically Apple in todays article about the IBM 1 GHz chip.

"Apple to air on ABC tonight!!! At last, a TV commercial!"

Yes, I've downloaded the snail clip. It's interesting, but I don't think it hits in the right way.

What I do admire about the spot is that Apple just performed an advertising Judo move.

They side-stepped the Microsoft momentum and gave the less formidable, (but still powerful) intel platform a kick in the pants.

Now, the key is to get MSFT to realize it has a fat, ugly girlfriend and assist in developing more for the PowerPC (Not necessarily Macintosh). I'd like to see an IBM PowerPC that could run either an Apple or Microsoft OS.

That way, people could truly decide which they like better. Once the hardware cost is out of the way, people could switch OS platforms on a whim the way they switch between Coke and Pepsi (depending on seasonality, couponing, and vendor specials).

IMHO.
