" Biden did NOT have to honor any agreement with the Taliban... you cannot just make up numbers like 12,000."

Yes, he could have gone back to fighting. I was low-balling you on troop strength.. It would have taken 25,000. If he had done that, you and Jamie would be crying cuz he broke his promise to get out, and Americans were dying again, without mentioning that we were back to killing civilians. The only difference is that most of us would be agreeing with you.

Milley said that had the U.S. stayed, "on the 1st of September, we were going to go to war again with the Taliban, of that there was no doubt."

He said staying past the 31st was militarily feasibly, but would have required approximately 25,000 more U.S. troops and would have resulted in "significant casualties."

"The generals felt we could keep control with as little as 2500"
In the fall of '20, the same generals told Trump they needed 4500, so he pulled out another 2000.

The irony is that I was alone posting my concerns about withdrawal way back in the Trump days. Especially the Afghanistan women's rights. I was torn, and I shared my emotions.

As I recall I was pretty much the only one then.

Then we withdrew and I initially supported it -- because I thought the Afghanistan military would stand up to the Taliban.

Clearly, in my mind the Afghan President running away with treasure, and the military folding demonstrated the futility of our remaining there. Because we had to control another country with might-makes-right for probably for another 100 years.

My hopes are now in diplomacy and sanctions. And using our money for infrastructure and to save life on the planet.

The right wing fascist rise is global, from the Taliban and ISIS across Asia to the rising violent Trumpers and their bosses. And the southern hemisphere too.

Our stand must be based on principles and tactical reasoning; something other than drone missiles and bombs.
