The Tesla battery systems make many forms of electricity more workable. And could have prevented the grid problem in Texas given enough storage capability. So, it is handy, in the same way standby generators do.

But Musk has flatly stated that [presumably, by his calculation] electricity production must double as we transition to electric vehicles. And battery systems will be required as well. This is something you're going to need Trump to do because no other president we've seen could come close to getting that done.

>> Duh. i imagine that his plants in Austin, McGregor and Boca Chica will all have a lot of battery capacity since ERCOT can't cut the mustard.

He would not build where there was insufficient grid infrastructure. Any reasonable person understands you plan in accordance with specified risk profiles if you want to avoid massive tax demands on the public, which is simply the way it has to be. You plan for what can reasonably be expected, and that storm was a very long shot.
