I was lucky I guess... Yes there was a little ear pulling a few times... in lower elementary by nuns... but I was always a smart ass and authority feels threatened in any form when your questions are tough and your answers better neh ? plus that period I was in a slum school... you got tough or didn't make it.. but the nuns also (I guess they were heretics) told us.. you do not need to be Catholic to go to heaven,.. You just need to be a good person... Go figger.. You didn't even need to know Jesus... just be a good person... Again go figger... FROM Grade 4 to 7 I was in the mainstream Catholic system... I gotta tell ya.. our teachers at that point were all lay.,. and mostly rocked... a lot of special classes for me.. when special was a good thing.. ie.. gifted.. I was in the English Quebec system..... Then went to Private school Loyola.. sure a bit more religious with many priests... still more lay teachers.. I dunno.. again maybe I was just dumb lucky... Worst $hit at HS was nothing to do with priests or religion ... but a couple of Gestapo like bullies in my year... preyed upon the weak... You could try and help... but they were too weak... was sad to watch them go after their victims... but it was nothing to do with religion... being me I got on with jocks, brains and dopers all.. so I was fine...

point is violence was from peers... just like public school
