Daniel, he won't return my call. Mr. DeMark has a great (IMHO) book wherein he discusses many different technical indicators, from trend lines to Elliott Wave theory, long term, short term, and everything in between. He also has some proprietary TA stuff that has helped me a lot. "The New Science if Technical Analysis", (ISBN 0-471-03548-3), is the best single book I've ever read on TA. If your run Metastock or another similar program, you'll find some of his stuff on the program. You called it a technical breakout, and that's what I call it too! (I'm a little concerned about my YUM DIVE contest deals though. After Sector's suggestion, they look like MUY and EVID. not good.)
