norman--

from the perspective of the RBOCs, this is not a good thing. you have to understand that the equipment in their offices is anything bu homogenous, and it must all work together. if ADI has designed chips that will not work with anyone elses equipment, or if they are the sole supplier of the equipment, then the RBOCs will not consider them.

RBOCs desire to use a wide variety or suppliers so they can keep costs low, while still providing good QOS. there is also the possiblity that could be purchased by TXN. in addition, i think it is unwise to handicap a solution we have yet to see. for all we know, TXNs chipset may be far superior.

good luck to all,
trey
