Yes, political risk is the scariest of all. Many of my folks' relatives could tell you firsthand how it feels to be asset-free by government decree. Otherwise resource stocks work as income producers and inflation hedges, especially if they are conscious of depletion and well capitalized. But before I checked out VALE too deeply I was hoping to resolve the P/E with someone familiar with it. Their last 20-F is a veritable monster.

In a previous post I provided details of the Well Positioned massive Iron Ore "Distribution Centre" that VALE got constructed on the west coast of Malaysia .....

Message 33433651

.... Ore is delivered via 400,000 ton carriers, the largest in the world, and is semi-processed into pellet form and then shipped off to the East, most especially to China with its insatiable appetite for raw materials.

Undoubtedly much of that Ore ends up in products which get exported to the West, and especially to the USA via those dozens of container ships that are now lined up in "bottlenecks" waiting their turn to get offloaded in US ports ....

Judging by VALE's growth in Revenue, in $US, it seems that the "Metals Business" has been good for VALE with ongoing annual increases in its Top Line Revenue .....

In the 4 year period since 2016 VALE has shown an annual compounded growth of ~9% in its Total Revenues.
