Dipy, RE: "Owning only LSI and no INTC, I guess I will do better, because Intel seems to diworsifying here."

Shows to go ya what some people know about companies and yet choose or not choose to invest in them. Intel is already very well diversified, thank you. It's just that there is so much advertising on TV and other places about the Pentium and Pentium II that nobody seems to hear about Intel's other products. OK, if you're still listening, some of Intel's other products:

Flash memory...last I looked yearly sales greater than all of LSI combined.

Network interface products (NIC's mostly). Last year, when Intel cut prices of these majorly, 3COM stock did a reverse triple ($80 to $25). I know their purchase of used to be USRX was another reason for their triple tank also. Intel also recently announced eight more NIC type products. 3COM tanked again. Not like last year, but how much can you tank after you've majorly tanked? Intel is also in on development of a new computer to network standard with (I think) Compaq and Microsoft, which will multiply computer to network speeds by up to 30 times. This will give yet another kickstart to demand for faster CPU's, since network speed has become the bottleneck.

PC mother boards

Servers. Intel can sell you turnkey systems replete with motherboards, PPros, L2 cache, main memory, hard drives, tape, whatever you want. All you need to do as a customer is hang your own skins and logo on these and ship these muthuhs!

Complete PC's. Sony wasn't interested in doing box-making of Wintel PC's, but they wanted to be in the market. So, Intel builds the whole thing for them. Again, Sony just needs to put their name on them. You know, I'm not even sure whether Intel or Sony puts the little "intel inside" label on it.

If you are still reading, FYI, Intel even designed, built and shipped a supercomputer to Sandia Labs in New Mexico. It has over 9,000 Pentium Pros in it. I think Sandia uses it for oil exploration.

That's enough. These camera chips will be a slam dunk for Intel. They will achieve fantastic yields with them, and make decent profits with them, not margins like they make with CPU chips, but they are interested in total profits more than margins. In hindsight, I would have been far wiser to put all the $$ which I spent on LSI stock into INTC. Luckily, I have 8X money invested in INTC vs. LSI. Used to be more like 5X, but guess which stock has done far better? DUH!
