Mr. Dan makes sense.

I agree, and I believe Aware has a good chance of being bought in 1998. All I wanted to say was if they are not taken over, the company will survive and do well.

Points to consider about any Aware buyout

Please remember that Aware in some sense isn't a complete independent. They are the gateway to the ADI chipset. ADI will definitely have a large say in whoever decides to purchase Aware. In some ways, this diminishes the possible purchase price for Aware, since it counts down the number of potential suitors (ex. TI or MOT couldn't purchase Aware because ADI won't allow it). It also provides some insurance that Aware can remain independent, because they fall within the umbrella of a larger company and benefit from its resources (large sales staff, connections to other companies, large profile).

Now if ADI were purchased then I would fully expect Aware to be included as part of the package.

So in a sense, Aware has the best of both worlds. They have the high growth potential of a small startup and the market leverage of a large company. As I stated before, I don't think that they will be bought out in the near future (12 mos). Why mess up a good situation?? But stranger things have happened.
