Thanks for the Barron's Online post. I agree that NE will do great, particularly from its conversion projects producing more deep drilling vessels. However, both DO and RIG have a larger percentage of their fleet in deep drilling. I believe the estimates for NE are 10% this year, 25% in 1999 and 40% in 2000.

Over 90% of Transocean's earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization (EBITDA) come from the deep-water contract-drilling business, he notes. For Diamond Offshore, it's over 80%.
