The tropical Atlantic region has had a slow October, but researchers warn storm season is not over yet

For the third time since 1995, the tropical Atlantic did not have a single storm from October 6 to October 27, the Tampa Bay Times reports. However, hurricane season lasts until November 30, and storms have historically hit Florida and other tropical regions late into the season. The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) encourages people residing in states along the Atlantic coast to download the FEMA mobile app and learn how to prepare for hurricanes by visiting Ready.gov and Listo.gov. This year’s Atlantic season marks the sixth season in a row with above-average activity, The Washington Post reports.
