Here's a good article on the US vs Canadian taxes. On average, Canadians pay ~3% higher taxes. But boy is that 3% used well!! You get decent universal healthcare, safe good public schools, extended unemployment, cleaner cities, no drive-by shooting gang wars, etc etc.

Leaving aside the parliamentary system, there are still many significant differences between the Canadian and US government systems. The Canadian system is much better.

Federal Income Taxes
U.S. federal income tax brackets range from 10% to 37% for individuals. In Canada, the range is 15% to 33%. In the U.S., the lowest tax bracket for the tax year ending 2019 is 10% for an individual earning $9,700 and jumps to 22% for those earning $39,476. Your whole post should get a gold star!
This says it so well:
It's like we give 5th graders a math test that tests everything from 3rd grade to 12th grade math. Most 5th graders come out somewhere between 3rd and 6th grade ability. But one 5th grader comes out with already having mastered 12th grade math! Most of us see that as something to be proud of. Others see that as proof of educational inequality, because, you know, the kids who have only mastered 3rd grade math by 5th grade are obviously being screwed over this kid who has mastered 12th grade math......
I LITERALLY was the 5th grader doing 12 grade level work (math & reading) on standardized tests and was in a very poor, integrated school district. Rather than try to figure out why I graduated at the top (#2) of my high school class and give me a great scholarship, they said I was the wrong color to get help with tuition so "good luck at UC Berkeley" and others got the full rides (I actually did get a scholarship to a good school, but didn't want to go there.)

But the point is for nearly 50 years since Johnson we make excuses for poor performance and don't try to learn from high performers to lift everyone up. Too much work and personal responsibility is required and who is going to pay Jessie that one reason I did well is my father had a low paying job to be home so us kids couldn't get into trouble. We'd go over to single parent homes to get in trouble... and we did plenty of that.
