Rumor goes that when Elon first heard about the semiconductor shortage, and I'm sure he heard about it long before we ever did, he went to the head of the company that makes the semiconductors for his cars and for other cars, he asked the head of that company how much it would cost to buy all their future semiconductors for the next 12 months, he wanted to buy them and pay for them in advance...

Notice there are lots more Tesla cars on the road now than a year ago while other car makers can't get semiconductors...

The head of that semi company told him a figure and Elon pulled out his company checkbook and wrote him a check in full for all of the future semiconductors made over the next 12 months...

Of course, he could have simply wired the funds, but he wanted to be hands on and personal and direct about it...

You have to respect and love the guy for being so forward looking and so business savvy...

Any other car make could have done the same thing but they didn't, and that's why his product is so good...

There nothing wrong with my current car, but I already know my next car is a Tesla...

Or maybe a Lucid, who knows...
