Indeed.

Not sure what to say. I certainly noticed first that nobody was telling me what was in the package, later that there didn't seem to be any discussion of why these were advantageous things to do. The individual proposals may have been thoroughly discussed over the years--because these seem to come from an established wish list--by those who advocate such things. Maybe the cognoscenti know all about them. To the rest of us they're a big question mark. Who knows how much thought might have gone into them.

It seems like a lot of the items poll very well. And a lot of the items are things all the cool countries do. An example of that is parental leave. One can certainly see why potential parents would be in favor of paid time off to bond with their new family member. But I've never seen discussed how and how much that would benefit the country.

At least they're down to 1.7 trillion now.
