This was been predicted about 10 years ago by a few astute political observers and by the writers of the Fourth Turning. VA Electorate by Age 18-29 9% 30-44 22% 45-64 43% 65+ 27% The reason is we Gen Xers are all children of Reagan. Although Gen X is smaller than both the Boomers and Millennials we are unique in the political spectrum of generational voting trends. All the other generational cohorts are pretty much 50/50 democrat/republican, however Gen X is only cohort that breaks the norm by voting like 60% Republican 40% Democrat. So what Mollie is picking up on is this is a time that the children of Reagan come through to save the day. G-n-G Proud Gen Xer
