Phil and thread, I've been lurking for months, hold a decent position in MFN and like yourselves am waiting for some NEWS that gets this thing to a couple of bucks (at least). Definitely not interested in MFN as a core holding! It's my only deviation from technology (ASND, CS, CPQ, LSI, etc.). I sure thought the activity and subsequent run to 7/8 was a precursor to an announcement. The volume has been good. MFN is definitely under accumulation. Insider purchase, (despite its small size) is positive.

Even if a buyout is'nt imminent, it does appear that the fundamentals may be improving as demand for auto loans is up sharply! I'm sure the sub-prime sector is getting their share.

"Auto credit shot up by $5.5 billion in December at a 16.3 percent annual rate -- the strongest growth in auto loans since a 19.1 percent surge in October 1986."

By contrast, in November auto credit had contracted by $1.3 billion at a 3.8 percent annual rate.

The chart shows a chance that MFN will break $1 in two weeks and $1.5
in two months. A pure guess without any insider information.
