Re <<Why is this happening?>>

A trick question I see, and that you have a sense of humour, unless you are hoping to be wrong. Which one is it?

I think 'they' are either preparing to deal with a rug-pull, or planning for a rug-pull.

2022? or 2024?

a nasty, and nastier the better, monetary / financial / economic crisis, suitably weaponised, can do much good before and / or after important elections, always, once politics go extreme, and arguably, politics has already veered off of the rails and now in mid-air, but gravity keeping busy.

If crisis tee-ed up before, a massive (liquidity release) save per dictates of Asimov's Foundation, might prolong the current rulers stay, perhaps, but

more certain, better tee-ed up well calibrated to possibility of losing, so that the other side inherits a mess, however knowing full well the other side might release liquidity unless tripped up whilst on the way to the control room

?

dunno

let's see what the lady does next

should we pity her husband?
