Alas, BLUE, in my portfolio, is down again because they missed estimates, so I suppose I should sing some sad song to bemoan their loss. Did you give your portfolio credit for BLUE’s TSVT spinoff last week?

Here is the revised report for 11/12/21, including the spinoff of BLUE/TSVT which holders of BLUE would receive 1/3 share in TSVT, effective Nov 4. (The only change in the reported results was a slight improvement in the standing of MASTER). For the contest, where five portfolios held BLUE, the following steps were taken:

The portfolio was expanded to include an investment in TSVT, where the number of shares was 1/3 the number of shares of BLUE, as of the date of the spinoff. For purposes of performance tracking, the “initial” share price was the closing price of the first day of trading: : $26.55. The portfolio allocation for BLUE was reapportioned between BLUE and TSVT, proportional to the value of their holdings five trading days after the start of trading (this is to let the market make a more stable assessment of the relative value of the two listings): Nov 11: BLUE 11.68, TSVT 40.00, for a relative fraction of 0.467 and 0.533 respectively. These numbers matter only if there are any future cash out events in a stock held by a portfolio holding BLUE and TSVT.

The top three (to five) portfolios are neck and neck going into the finish, so it’s anyone’s guess who finishes on top.
