My distaste for Cato the elder is that he incited genocide against a free-trading city which did not champion genocide for Romans. The name Cato is passed to Cato the younger by son and grandson, we understand.

So, I am okay I suppose with the setup of Cato, but if as a general principle, might be problematic.
