>>>It's up more than 400% in the last 3 years, and something like 11,000% since it came public in the late-eighties.<<<

Ah, but ASND has returned a little less than half CSCO's all-time returns, and only from mid-1994 when it went public. So providing someone was savvy enough to hold from the IPO to today, which stock really is the superior performer -- given %returns/time?

Also, when I was discussing ASND vs CSCO as investments over on the CSCO thread, all I heard were empty statements that CSCO is king of the hill, and the better investment -- no consideration for value. So I argued that for 1998, ASND would be the better buy among the two based on its oversold state and upside...on the other side of the fence, the CSCO bulls were all willing to talk a big game, but curiously enough, none of them admitted to accumulating at those prices...which were around the low to mid-50s at the time. As you can see CSCO has returned about 15% since, so they could have built on their long positions quite successfully, but apparently they felt it was fully-valued as well, and feared the same fate as ASND and COMS -- they just wouldn't admit it.

Like I said, no consideration for value...only the safety perceived in the largest networker. Never mind the fact that an oversold state leading to an undervalued one, IS safety!

Style Pts.
