Company director Suguru Takaya said Fujitsu has cut its forecast for year
to March worldwide PC shipments to 3.20 mln units from the previous forecast
of 3.4 mln units, citing the slowdown in PC demand.

"We do not have a clear DRAM microchip price estimate for the next term,

Due to the continued deterioration of the microchip market, Takaya said
the company plans to cut microchip related investment by 30 pct in the year
to March 1999 from 180 bln yen planned for the year to March, 1998.
"As the DRAM business is a risk business, we will try to raise the
weighting of flash memory chips, cutting the weighting of the straight DRAM
business and, among DRAM chips, we will devote ourselves more to synchronous
DRAM chips," he said.
