Makes you wonder what AWRE is working with CSCO on.
"How about a switched DSL service? It can be done via ATM
or IP routing. Some carriers today may offer Layer 3 (routed) IP-only DSL networks to
accommodate multiple service providers; for example, a telecommuter might connect during the
day to the corporate network and during the evenings to an ISP for personal use. In the future,
carriers might build multiprotocol switched Layer 2 networks by extending ATM virtual circuits
over DSL. Either way, users could select a destination and instantly connect their DSL data
channel to the service. But for now, it's safe to assume that DSL circuits are dedicated."
