Thanks for the detailed explanation, Ravi. I knew you'd have the answers.

I now think what probably happened is someone in the airline goofed up and did not catch the launch that was scheduled so the flight time could be moved around it. That's on JetBlue.

I've kept your post so I can check out that book sometime.

In 1976 my family went to a wedding in Florida, and we visited the Cape. They had a big exhibition called "3rd Century America" that was very extensive and thorough. We spent the whole day there, ending the day by watching a satellite launch.

My favorite part was standing near the Saturn V rocket engines. They were absolutely massive. I also liked watching the films of the failed launches in the early 60's, which I had never seen before. I had no idea at the time they had such a hard time getting Mercury in the air safely. In 1984, the movie, "The Right Stuff", showed those failed launches as well.

Oh, it was also cool to go inside those old control rooms from the early 60's and see all of that old equipment. It was strange seeing that they were essentially cement bunkers, because at the time I could not conceive of a rocket coming down and hitting them. I know better now.
