Great choice, congratulations! It's a timeless and classic design wristwatch.

If I told you my NVDA story you wouldn't believe me but I scalped it over the years and played AMD from single digits so it's all good. I like gold Rolex but definitely not in an Explorer.

Steel "sport" Rollies seem to be artificially inflated higher and I think the ADs and the atelier itself have a heavy hand in that which is sad because Rolex increasingly controls distribution. Sorry, I just vented a lot there and I'm not even in the market currently!

Fine timepieces are mechanical marvels, and they can become obsessions. To that point, I'd encourage you to read every post on this board. Choosing between a million dollar watch and a house, I'd likely choose the house, between the same watch and a car, I'd likely choose the watch, but that's just me.

As for 36mm to 39mm, some designs translate and expand well and others don't. The modern Rolex is pretty beefy for a mere 36mm. ;-)

Here's a few things about Rolex that most people don't know.

It has been operated as a charitable trust for decades. (although they do a ton of marketing)

Rolex watch dials look the same for decades on end. But under the hood, so to speak, Rolex is regularly improving the movement, the case, the bracelet, etc.

As far as investments I've a few things to say but falling asleep. Buy what you like as cheap as possible says a serial watch owner. And enjoy it!

If there were plenty of watches you wanted to buy 10 years ago, I'm sure you wished you bought NVDA instead!

Any update from your AD, have you taken delivery of your new Explorer yet?
