The Scottish Government has made clear the expectation that all costs related to holding the main COP26 summit in Glasgow will be borne by the UK Government. This includes funding for police, fire and ambulance services which are essential to both prepare for and deliver a safe, secure and successful event. The Scottish Government has negotiated a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the UKG to mitigate the financial impact of COP26 in Glasgow. The UK government has publicly stated its agreement to work on this basis and both governments continue work alongside Police Scotland and other blue light services ahead of the event.
