You're right about the housing bubble. I should have used the word preceded rather than precipitated. I did see the illegal shorting first hand though. I got sick of tech stocks after the bubble and went to a REIT. It got hit by predators with naked shorting. Was constantly on the Reg SHO list - too many short sales not being settled - more stocks than the real float actually circulating. I tried to get my stocks out of a margin account so they couldn't be borrowed, as did many others, but in the end I saw they were going to wait it out and never cover and be allowed to do it. But heck, I still get my $3000 loss credit every year! I love Elon Musk's latest twitter responses. He's had it with these Communists running our country. I hope he doesn't hit the trifecta of unwokeness. That sounds bad. You might be on a FBI list by now. Charles Martel, aka Thehammer - be on the lookout.
