Good argument. It used to be the case. Never saw gold spike up during gold options expiration, but plenty of times a smackdown. I am waiting for Biden’s Fed chair pick, not that it matters that much. She is easier than Powell, if it’s Brainard. The only Democrat. She gets the post we go higher (stock indexes). Bubble on. So does inflation. Online bets give a 33% chance (for Brainard), but I am thinking they could be wrong. Fed chair has become a political appointment - it’s the economy stupid. Long gone are the days of hawkish Fed. On the other hand, due to Fed rotation 4 Fed doves rotate out of voting members of FOMC, 4 hawks rotate in, including Bullard. It will be interesting. Some (Bernank) run the Fed as an economics department, others (Greenspan) as a dictatorship.

Biden sure is taking time to pick the Fed chair.
