The genius of human design is that it is born highly underdeveloped and as a result can adapt to the environment that it is born into. If the human brain was a CPU architecture, we'd be microcode rather than hardwired.

That said, I am not sure if the military should or even would want to follow your suggestion for exactly the same reason. Spartans certainly did believed it is important to mold their kids while they were malleable.

That is crazy of you to think that.. it defeats the whole concept of warfare. I hate to say that war is not an individual option to accept or decline enlistment.

Again.. if people are out& about, in public, then covid vaccination should be mandatory. The whiners will have their way with that what little civil rights they
understand, their inoculated friends & relatives be damned if getting sick.
There too many people escaping on free rides on the sweat & responsibilities accepted by others.

I don't think you would have the same military if you did that. Around that age is when I started realizing that the propaganda of we were the innocent do good protectors of democracy was a sham.
Maybe it was brain development or maybe I just moved up in rank enough to know more about the stuff we were doing, I don't know. I know I saw that a lot. The young guys, including me at first were gung ho, laser focused and the enemy was pure evil. By the time I hit my halfway point, I realized both sides were the same except for the people at the very top.
I had to rationalize by the end that though we were doing bad things, that hopefully we were doing it for the right reasons and we were the lesser of two evils.
The last few years were the hardest. Basically I just stayed in to collect on all the time I had already invested, nothing more.

Things have changed with the military. At one time they didn't want fully developed brains in their soldiers.

Gen George S Patton -

"Be seated. Now, I want you to remember that no bastard ever won a war by dying for his country. He won it by making the other poor dumb bastard die for his country. Men, all this stuff you've heard about America not wanting to fight, wanting to stay out of the war, is a lot of horse dung."
