In general, you have the right to shoot the guy you perceived as life threatening whether or not he is pointing a gun at you. The police routinely justify killing a suspect for reaching to his pocket (or bed sheet as the case may be). The standard is much higher for the general public, though the principle stands.

BTW, nobody was murdered. That was the verdict. 2 people were killed.

Way too many people go to prison for life or face death penalty for self defense, pretty much guaranteed that if you shoot someone in self defense in any state other than Texas you go to prison for life or worse. Even during a home invasion.
Really? Can you provide some instances of that?

If I saw ANY dude in my hood with a weapon like that.. white/black/brown/ yellow I would take him out if I could and call 911... likely 911 a waste...
