I think they under report training. I've been in the government long enough to know that real training is after initial training.
I'm not a cop but I imagine it is like the military. Sure we went through basic and then technical school which would be like going to the academy but then the real training starts.
There was on the job training, seminars, web base training, classroom courses. We used to complain we spent more time training than doing our jobs.
Also, a lot of that training was PC stuff. God help us if someone got in trouble because of an incident because then everyone had to go through training again even if you had just done it.
Again, go out on a night patrol, stop someone and tell them to keep their hands where you can see them, then have them get fidgety, start reaching in their pockets for a phone, wallet or gun. Which one is it in the dark in a split second. Guess wrong and you're dead.
Wouldn't it have just been easier if they kept their hands where they could be seen like they were told?
Oh wait, this is 2021 so we have to risk a cops life because no one follows instructions or is responsible for their own actions anymore. Oh and odds and statistics say that guy probably has a warrant or 10.
You know that guy that just drove through that parade had been out of jail less than 2 weeks and has a long rap sheet. Let's give him a big hug and then turn him loose again. If at first you don't succeed, turn the criminals loose to try again. What could possibly go wrong?
