Jan- I use a Mac with Netscape and sometimes have problems with crashing (usually Type 1 errors). The best simple fix I have found is to go into "Network Preferences" in the "Options" window and click on "Clear Disk Cache Now". This often clears up nasty problems. I would try this before messing with the system.
