It appears the POG isn't going to go anywhere this year. The Financial Post has an article in today's issue, which says that Europe's central bank is likely to hold little gold in favour of foreign currencies, particularly Japanese yen and US$s according to a senior official of the Bank of England yesterday. Some gold analysts are concerned that central banks may undertake more gold sales soon. Gold producers fear further central bank sales would again prompt holders of big gold positions to sell.
