I guess my question was not clear.

Why has the vaccine not been updated, based on variants and mutations?

I am not questioning vaccinating people.

We are told the current vaccine is not very effective against current variants and it also loses it's efficacy after about 6 months.

Because vaccinated seem to have a somewhat milder course when they get infected.

.....seem to have?.................more COVID deaths in this country this year than last.....seems to stretch the meaning of "milder"............how to you rationalize this?
