Its an important consideration that Wells like the one featured in the post to which this is a reply, would not be considered as part of current DUC inventory.

From the earliest days of the unfolding Bakken story, many different views of where the oil might be were considered.

Not all drilled wells were fracked, not all the potential oil benches were accessed and maybe not even understood.

The Bakken may have more or less 7 benches where oil might be. Of course this isn't contiguous across the whole place.

Early North Dakota activity started humming by 2009 the action is well profiled at Bruce Oksols, Million dollar way sight.

Now with benefit of hind sight and experience, it is reasonable to presume, some early drilling efforts were not optimum for recovery. There may be better benches above or below where initial efforts landed.

Methods and practices have also matured, debates about sand types and all such variables have stabilized making re exploration of initial efforts a high probability for wells drilled from 2007 to 2009.
