I suspect many companies will go to a hybrid model. 1-2 days/week in office the rest remote. It depends on the function and the line of business. Overall, I suspect you are right but some lines like service desks can be done remotely often cheaper. Others functions require more face to face. Then you have the issue of "have's" and {"have-nots". I once took over a group of trainers who frequently announce they were "working from home". I put an end to it because their clients could not work from home, I thought it sent a bad message. Generally, these people had 6-8 weeks vacation ....
