Mark: Not only is there no life to speak of at FL, the company received an exclusion from the US Desert Protection Act, an agreement which was reached by giving up a small part of the claim (right under Eagle Mountain -- the plug, remember??). If you look at a map of the protected area, there is a little spot not included -- that's FL. This was dealt with several years ago. Naxos people were testifying before the Senate in 90-91 and the act was passed shortly thereafter. It was sponsored by Senator Dianne Feinstein of California.

Does that answer the question??

Mark, you must have missed all those documentaries on PBS concerning the "living desert" and the surrounding ecosystem ;-). If you're short of cacti huggers, we can spare a bus load or two of ex-tree huggers from up here in BC. Our forest industry is doing a "crash and burn", so there's a few left wing environmentalists with some time on their hands. What do you say? :-).
All seriousness aside, the permitting will be a major hurdle for Naxos, should they proceed to the producer stage. I can understand the focus of the company will be on economic extraction at this point, but I hope they have given some consideration to the permitting of a full scale mining and processing operation in close proximity to an environmentally sensitive area. Just a thought.

"It is also true, that there is not very much in the way of plant life, animal life, or life of any sort within the boundaries of FL."

Mark, no life form except for us Naxonians can live with such high levels of PM.
