Wait a minute! I didn't marry until age 29! Timing is everything.

I married at 33, first child at 40. My wife is three years younger.

We didn't marry until we were a decade together. No particular reason, other than the one we had for not having children: we were unsettled. Moved almost every year, including three interstate moves. And we were paying for college or grad school for one or both of us that entire time while holding down jobs.

I imagine that is what is driving a lot of the aging marriage and kids statistics: credentialitis to get a decent paying job.
